I just got a air compressor with a magentek 220v 5hp motor and trying to wire the ac power to it. I have 3 wires going to it green black white. the 2 wires coming out of it go's to the pressure switch that is hook up already. thanks for your help Doug

 

I am surprised it did not come ready to hook the 220 up, but sounds like it is left to you to hook the P.S. up?.
The P.S. will go in series with a live conductor and the live a terminal input of the motor.
The other live conductor goes direct to the other terminal of the motor.
I take it you have a 220/240v outlet? The neutral is not used, if present.

My compressor is different. The black and white wires go to screw terminals inside the pressure switch and the green wire goes to the metal base of the pressure switch. All the safety gizmos and the motor are connected after the pressure switch so I don't have to mess with them.
