Hi, I am building low pass filter 5th order butterworth that has an fc=4000 hz, but when I input a sinusoid voltage of 0.5 V it starts to clip.

I s there is anyway to avoid a clipping?

Without seeing your circuit, I'll have to say you have a/some wrong part(s) somewhere.\

I don't know how you expected to get a useful reply without your schematic diagram.

Upload it using the "Go Advanced" and "Manage Attachments" buttons.

Your input swings above and below ground (0V). Your op amp outputs can't go below ground. You need to use a negative supply for Vee, or you need to bias the input signal up to Vcc/2 by capacitor-coupling the input signal into a voltage divider on the left end of R5.

 

Ron H is correct. Obviously the op amp outputs can't go below ground if they don't have a negative supply.
