I used to use 120v thermo magnetic flashers for halloween lights. They are becoming increasingly difficult to find, plus not much you can do to control frequency of the on/off. I have searched through the site, but have not seen anything (or at least my search criteria do not return any hits) for something in the solid state realm that would do the job. Has anyone seen a thread or know of something of this nature?

You can use TRIACs or solid state relays (which in also contain TRIACs -if they can drive AC loads- plus some additional driver circuit foe the TRIAC).
