I'm trying to simulate the output of a VR sensor with the digital output(s) on an Arduino.

So far I've tried outputting 2 sequential pulses on different outputs, then inverting one of them with an op-amp. I hoped to be able to sum the two into a single, AC cycle, but haven't got that far...

I don't really like that approach, anyway. It seems too complicated and just "smells" wrong.

Can anyone suggest a more elegant solution?

Yep, Variable Reluctance. I want to generate a cam or crank angle sensor signal for a car ECU.

I hope this doesn't violate the Automotive Electronics policy... :)
