Actually, it depends on the datasheet you use. For the one you posted, start on page 18.

Anyhow, you can use several LM7812 or LM317 in parallel. Add a small value resistor to the output of the voltage regulator (0.22 ohm or 0.1 ohm). The resistor dampens any variation between output voltages on each regulator.
Also, your need for 4.5 amps means several will be needed - check max dissipation from each regulator.
