I am trying to install a LM386 amplifier in my car. the power to the amp is supplied by the car battery but when I connect the circuit ground to the chasis the amplifier stops working.Anyone has any idea how to solvethis problem? thanks

How about a schematic as to precisely what you have connected up to it?

Otherwise, we could guess for a long time and never figure it out.

It works before you hook the ground to the chassis?

Is the area to the chassis you are connecting the ground to BARE metal and clean?

If there is paint between the ground wire and the chassis, no dice.

If you have a good ground, re-read Sgt.Wookies post.
