I've built the following circuit based around a TP4056 charging IC and a DW01 battery protection IC, it works great however to run from the battery you need to energize the circuit using the USB power first you can't plug the battery in to power up, can anyone explain this behavior as I'm confused!

Dammit I thought that might be the case, thanks.

Short term I can link out DW01 by connecting the battery to 0v, this will remove the battery discharge protection but the TP4056 protects against over voltage anyway.
