hi there everyone. I am not an electronics student i am a product design student but i have recently started to get interested in electronics and have built a small device that flashes to music. I have used a tip31c transistor a 9v battery some leds and an audio jack.

I am now wanting to improve this idea but having such little knowledge of electronics im not sure how to.

I want to make different LEDs flash to different frequencys and i want to have a lot more LED's than what a 9v battery can power so would like to use mains electricity.

This is for my University course work so if anyone would be willing to help me out i would greatly appreciate it.
