i wanted to make an led tach or shift light for my car, and im not good with electronics, so to make things easier on me just wondering if i could just go to the junkyard and take the tach out of a car and use its circuit and either add a comparator to make a shift light or a few lm3914's to make an led tach?
if i were to do the led tach i would want to include the alarm flasher but im not sure how to do that if more than 1 lm3914 is used ( i would most likely use 3) also im not sure how to choose the appropriate resistors and capacitors for my application, if someone could give an example of how to choose the correct resistors and capacitors for the lm3914 that would help
