i have a laplante 220 v single phase 5hp motor currently in CW rotation, that i want to reverse, i have followed the diagram and the motor continues clockwise rotation, it's specs are

model F184T5S4C

P/N 240023

CW rotation L1 to T1,T5
L2 to T4,T8

CCW rotation L1 to T1,T8
L2 to T4,T5

what is the problem?

thanks in advance

Good question as that sounds legitimate to me, matter of fact I don't see how it wouldn't reverse.

Always hate to use this phrase but have you double checked the connections and also tried it back in the original hookup?

Am I correct in assuming that T1/T4 is the run (Big) winding and T5/T8 is the smaller winding with a capacitor in series with it.

I cant help wondering what is on T2,T3,T6,T7 respectively.
Can you post the info you have.

Reversing any single phase induction motor is about reversing windings, usually only 1 from the norm of 2 but motor configurations vary widely and I cant be specific without a little more info.

How many windings?
Is there a start (rotary) switch?
How many capacitors.

Will be happy to look if you have more info.
