Kelvin Double Bridge

I am reading the section on DC metering stuff and have a question about the kelvin double bridge...



I am having trouble understanding why we added Rm and Rn to the circuit exactly... Can someone help explain what this does to/for the circuit?
I know we are trying to eliminate the voltage drop across the wire connecting Ra and Rx but how does it do this?>
