Are Moderators appointed, volunteer do they meet face to face,
are they required to have a certain level of computer experience?
They do a great job, keeping this forum up and running, just curious.

Moderators are invited to the position by the site administration, their position is entirely voluntary, and we have never met face to face (at least not with me!). There is no level of computer experience required, other than being able to use one (of course), and many of the moderator features that allow them to do their jobs are pretty straight forward. We place a lot of trust in the existing mod team and give them a lot of responsibility on the forums. The "boring stuff" is done behind the scenes.

I suspect calmness AND longivity are required. That and there only needs to be so many moderators.

Have there been others, or is everyone still here?

There have been two other moderators who are no longer active members. The current mod team has been the same since 2006 when we made the move to vBulletin.

As long as there are no 'over-unity' guys there, I should be fine. Oh, and people who ask questions and run away :p

We can't convince the over-unity guys to get on-board - they make too much money selling their Earth-saving devices, so volunteering to moderate a forum is low down on their list of priorities ;)

Yeah, but I'm gonna make them read through all the threads that have been posted on the subject to date before answering any further questions.

Either that, or start posting my own over-unity electrolysis gear built out of 12AT6's and 6L6's. Take B+ from a dynamotor, no vibrator necessary!

Lets turn them on to fusion instead. That way they might accidently accomplish something.

So far they are the only fly in the ointment, and I don't mind the guys who are actually building hardware and trying to take numbers. They're paying for their questions IMO.
