I received a private e-mail message from someone who joined the forums today. It appears to have been sent from the forum's e-mail link and contains two different g-mail addresses (xxx on behalf of yyy) with a text content of, "hi, this is yyy. wanna ask something."

On the surface, this appears to be a clumsy attempt to harvest e-mail addresses for spamming. Does this sort of thing happen often around here?

If the person in question (and you know who you are) wishes to ask a specific question regarding a post of mine, then by all means please do so. If, on the other hand, you are what I believe you might be, then move along. Nothing to see here...

If an AllAboutCircuits moderator/admin is interested in the content and/or identities, I will gladly provide.

We do have stuff happen. This is the first instance I have heard of using a PM to do phishing/harvesting, if that is the case.

If you like, send me the message by PM and I will check it out.
