Is there a way to get Google and Chrome out of my life ?

It is getting beyond annoying, am trying to keep control of my computer and these people are bombarding their pushy systems to take over everything.

Any way to stop the intrusion ? Permanently ?

The last conflict was yesterday, Google Chrome pushing me to register/join/subscribe to their crap intruding into my Android 9.0 TV box and showing advertisements and porno.

It's even worse than that since Google has bought Norton and I don't know how many other companies now. It is waaaaay beyond pushy. The Beta of Microsoft Edge (Explorer is gone) is now a clone of Chrome. A lot of streaming providers chose Google over Microsoft and the battle for dominance in the market is on.

The pervasiveness is/was beyond my imagination. Yesterday, authentication at a news website I visit was apparently down early AM (e.g., 4 AM EST). Of course, there were no messages, except I kept getting a message that I should sign-on. So, I started browsing some of the drop-downs I had never visited. I know of no relationship per se between that site and Google, except like here, it allows one to sign on with Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

To my surprise, when I clicked on something like "names," it had my correct street address plus some incorrect ones that I had never provided. Most significant, it had the name and address for my wife* that I had never shared with Google or anyone. Without thinking, I erased the incorrect information and immediately regretted doing that. Next time I will add 10's if not hundreds of bogus addresses and names.

Not that that will do any good, but it may make me feel better.

In other words, if you can't be anonymous, be part of a big crowd.

*Her address is different from mine.

You probably should not ask such questions on the Internet. You have been flagged for re-education.

Browsh is just a wrapper between Firefox headless mode and the terminal.
On a side note, the V8 engine is probably the most common JS runtime so other than Mozilla and a few others, that's what gets imbedded in the majority of browsers.

Anyway, it's like they say, if a company offers you a free service then chances are YOU'RE the product. What we really need to do as a society is to start taking technology more seriously. Rebuild everything from the ground up using open-source development. And not just software either. Hardware too...

There are two things at work here. First is the pervasive and extensive collection of data of all types. Most of this you don't see of course, that's what fuels their product portfolios and such.

The second thing is the phychological aspect. By constantly "hinting" at this all-knowing power the intention is simply to drive home precisely what you have just expressed, the uncomfortable feeling of being stuck in 1984. That's an actual product too by the way and indeed they were paid handsomely for it. But really we're to blame in the end, selling off our privacy piecemeal in exchange for free email, social media, video platforms, etc, etc, etc.
