Is there a meaningful pass fail test I can do with a dmm on a UPS battery?

Given a bench psu and a standard dmm, can I do any conclusive test on a UPS battery? A number of sources suggest applying a sine wave but I don't have a signal generator and I don't want to build an oscillator with what I have on hand.

Thanks so much

Load it and measure the voltage sag- right a the terminals.

This can give you a sense for the internal resistance.
An old 12V headlight lamp makes a good test load.

Sure, if I had one :).

Will testing it while the ups is loaded but disconnected from mains do the same thing? What sag am I looking for?

Thanks again

Disconnect the Battery,
wait ~15-minutes,
Test,
if the Voltage is 12.5-Volts, or less,
throw it away and get a new one.
