Hi, I don't have experience with IR led. But I want to use it for catching intruder. I know the way of using laser pointer with light dependent resistor. Can I use IR led instance of laser pointer. And I also want to know it can give the strength of light as laser (normal LED can reach as laser light). Is there any way of using IR led for catching intruder (not including PIR, I know about it). I have seen infrared ray that is like laser but can't be seen with human eye in movies, how it is work.

Sure it can be done. You will need one IR transceiver and one IR receiver. The principal will be much the same used in any IR remote control. As you may know this is the "Embedded Systems and Microcontrollers" will you be using a microcontroller in your project? However you can make this without any micro also

Yeah, a 100KW CO2 laser will keep the intruders to a minimum.
