So were discussing this with some friends and were debating this. I'm sure you guys know way more then we do. We figured its runnning on Broadcom's BCM4329 chip set and Israels limit on wifi is 50mW. From what I saw on the datasheet the chip is outputting 64mW.

Is it possible to lower the power output via firmware or software upgrade? Or will Apple need to replace the chip to make it comply with European Standards?

The ipad wifi power level is stated to be *lower* than the specifications for Europe & Israel require - Apple were probably trying to extend the battery life.

The power should be fixable by a firmware update as the chipset does appear to be capable or running the required power.

 

If its lower then should be how could that cause a problem?
