I have seen that many books draw input/output of ideal ADC as in figure 1 (attachment) with Vin:
0-Δ/2 : 000
Δ/2 - 3Δ/2: 001
3Δ/2 - 5Δ/2: 010
...
Why the lowest level of Vin from 0 - Δ/2 is smaller than other level?
(in this case the range is only Δ/2 not Δ as in other levels)

To me it seems more appropriate but I think there are some reasons for that.
