Hi, I need some info on cennecting a 3 phase induction motor to a single phase supply. The star and delta methods and the way to calculate the capacitor size. Thanks

 

You can indeed run a 3phase motor on a aingle phase supply. In the section on Ac motors of this forum it gives an example but not to much detail

 

You can run a 3 phase motor with a single phase supply if you connect two of its terminals between neutral and live and put a capacitor between the third motor terminal and live wire.

However, this reduces the output power of the motor and draws more current from the grid.

Note that it is illegal to wire large three phase motors like that.
