Can anybody help me with what im sure is a very simple question?
What is self inductance? I think it is something along the lines of it being "the ability of a conductor to conduct" but thats a little vague!
Thanks to anybody who can help :)

To properly explain the phenomena that is self-induction, you will need to examine the electromagnetic processes that cause it, and it is essentially important that you understand its difference to mutual inductance.

Try:

Electromagnetic Induction or Self Inductance

And for further reference:

Mutual Inductance

These topics are particularly difficult if you have never come across the concepts before, so if you are struggling to understand anything, post back and I will try to explain any problems, hopefully in a simple manner!.
