So i removed the R resistor and placed a 1V voltage source to try and find my io so that i can find my Rth. But im stuck with the mesh equations that i generated. Am i wrong with the equations?

 

Other than being very sloppy with your units -- something that will come back to bite you -- (they are correct as far as they go).

Note that your title mentions terminals 'a' and 'b' but you never indicate what these terminals are. You need to get in the happen of properly annotating your diagrams.
