This is more of a comment or confusion on my part.
In http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_3/chpt_2/5.html they show
electron flow for N & P types; but reverse the polarity which adds confusion.
I my re-rendering of theis picture correct or not? I modified it to keep the polarities the same.

The illustration shows holes, which are the absence of electrons. While not physically there they are electrically exist, they exist by their absence. It is this electrical presence that semiconductors do what they are able to do.
