I am using a ATMEGA16L-8PU for a school project, does anybody know how to program a hex file into the micro-controller.

 

See http://www.lancos.com/prog.html if you don't have any programmer and have serial or parallel port available. Or if you have an USB-RS232 converter it works too, albeit slower.
