I want to measure the current drawn by a RF Transceiver tat operates at 2.4Ghz.... whenever it transmits something..it draws current in the form of pulses which could be as low as 40mA n operates at 3.3v.... is there any procedure or is it ok if i connect an ammeter in series with VCC pin to get average current consumed

Measuring average DC power should work fine
