I'm about to have a guy onsite to troubleshoot a PLC (I'm trying to help troubleshoot remotely) and he doesn't have the proper software. The software take hours to download & install. Usually I have the guys install the software ahead of time and then use TeamViewer to take over their laptop but I didn't get any advance notice this time. So I'm wondering if there is a VPN or something he can install quickly that would let me just use his laptop as a conduit so that I can connect to the PLC and do the troubleshooting with the software on my own laptop. Any suggestions?

Siemens. TIA portal. Must download > 4DVDs worth of data over metered connection, then install. For whatever reason the installer takes forever as well.

Crisis averted, was able to get it figured out without going online but would still like to have this trick up my sleeve if anyone has ideas.

 

I posted this question on another forum and was informed that this can be done through TeamViewer as well. There is a feature to do just what I asked about, I just never knew about it. Here is the info if anyone else could benefit from it:
