How to learn if an hot plate is controlled by a thermostat or an infinity switch? Looked at many hot plates with no indication what type of switch it is. Contacted Human Resources of a hot plate manufacturer gave the plate model and asked for the temperature switch model but no reply and they do not have a parts list for the switch. Might be confidential . Any thoughts how to proceed?

Also wish not to disassemble the plate.

 

No manufacturer is going to use an expensive Variable-Electronic-Controller
when they can use a common Thermostat that costs them ~$0.12 cents each.

Unless You want to start looking at Hospital-grade, Military-Spec, or Industrial-grade, equipment.
