Are you sure that a pulse that narrow is even possible? For every choice of a capacitor value there is a range of resistance values that give realizable pulse widths. You may be outside the devices capabilities.

Although the math may give you the result you want, the actual chip may not. You need to check the datsheet very carefully.

If the ½µs pulse is absolutely required, there are a lot of other ways to go about it, up to and including transistor monostables. Speaking for myself, I've always placed the 555 limits at around 1µs, but I've been wrong before.

It's pushing the envelope of the specs, but might be possible.

One could also use this to drive a passive differentiator to sharpen up the pulse.
