Hello
I am doing a project using an Arduino a sensor and a fan I need the fan to react upon the command of the sensor. The only problem is that when i plug the fan the power goes off, meaning it is short-circuited. I am connecting the power source to a jumper wire and I think that is why it is not working because the jumper wire can't withstand the amount of energy going through them. Is this true? and what can I do to prevent this? I am using a MOSFET and a 16.6kohm resistor. The fan max input is 120v. any other information you need you can ask me.
thanks for any help

OOps sorry, I didn't do that. The thing was that I actually was trying ac to dc without an inverter. I know I am stupid. Then i figured that the fan was actually an ac so now i have to get a dc fan. i don't think it was the wires that was the problem
