To help you get what you want, one thing you should explain is why you don't just buy what you need. Is there something lacking with the commercial units? Are you hoping to save money?

This would be an ambitious do-it-yourself project for anyone, and moreso for a beginner. You need to let the experts here understand your skill level (soldering, surface-mount?, DIY PCB?) before they can suggest a plan for you.

I love those!!! Reminds me of a translation I saw saying you shouldn't touch the high voltage busbars with your BEAR hands..

 

Definitely something lost in the translation.

An early English->Russian->English computerized translator was being put through it's paces; they plugged in the phrase:
"The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak"
which after being translated to Russian and back again, read as:
"The wine is agreeable but the meat has spoiled".
