some say that there's a little chance for it to work properly...and that only a few can make it work...can you help me with this?i wanna know the issues about this microcontroller, we nid this for our project...thanks guys

 

Works fine for me and millions of other folks, both the original 16F877 & 16F877A. What's the problem you're referring to?

 

i just heard it from someone else...hhehe dis is my first time 2 use this 877 because we used to study the basics using 16f84a, well gud 2 knw dat thank you...

 

I also started with the 16F84 and moved on to the 877 with no problems except maybe because of my own ignorance. I had some shorts which blew my chip and running 20Mhz on a broadboard or Veroboard was a bit unreliable at times, maybe because of oscillator lockup.

AFIAK there might be some errata or minor bugs in older chips which you could find on Microchip's site.

Pic16F877 and Pic16F877A are very reliable and there is no problem with these if someone knows to use it properly. There are 2 Comparators in 877A, not in 877 and if not used, those should be turned off. I have not faced any problem with either 877 or 877A till today.
