I took out an AC isolator from an old Toshiba TV, it comes directly after the fuse, which is associated with the AC plug. When I measured it's resistance it gives me a 1 ohm on multi-meter (which is in reality less than 0.01 ohms) and did connect it to my adjustable adapter, it overloads (like a short circuit) so now I'm afraid of connecting it to 220VAC and mess things up. Any advice ?
PS: The TV was working 100% properly, until it was broken, I savaged it, and it's not an LCD or LED, operates on flyback like old techs.

 

If it is across the supply, it Sounds like MOV that has shorted.

While if it's a coil then it is likely part of the interference suppression circuitry that is usually on the mains input.
