G'day all.

I don't know much about electronics except how to solder, and I have killed a DVD-ROM drive by plugging it's power supply in backwards.

Looking at the main board on the drive, a component has burned out which appears to be an A8805 3.3V voltage regulator. It is an SMD part that I am unlikely to be able to purchase, I was wondering if I could wire in a standard sized off the shelf regulator.
This is the datasheet for it, is either the AME8805AEFTZ or AME8805AEFT, it is hard to tell as it is a bit charred.

It is a specific DVD-ROM drive, and I can't get a replacement, so I have to attempt a repair. Any help much appreciated.
