Hello, I am new and not as good with Circuits as so many others are. I thought I might see if I could get some help on my Idea. I have tried to type this out a few times and after reading it I thought best not post it. To long and could be hard to follow lol So I will try and make it short to start with and expand on it if asked..

I guess I will try and explain how things work now and how I think it should work to bypass it?

On my Headlights, I have for the Right and Left High and Low beams running 12v+ full time, If the head lights are on with the switch the BCM commands the Lights to turn on over the Headlight Relay over ground down path past Multi Switch, With user pull of the Multi Switch it will change only where the ground goes on the path of Lows or Highs. If the Highs are told to come on, the ground goes to BCM over a High Beam Indicator Control wire Pin B10 (I think this is Important Control) also goes to the ground side of the High Beam lights and they turn on in Parallel. Full Bright. Flip the Multi Switch and Ground is removed from the Highs and now Pin B10 has 12V resting on it.

Now turn off the Head light switch, The BCM turns on the DRL over C1 A8 Ground to Relay under hood. This Relay before commanded on is at Rest on 87a for the High Beam 12v+, When commanded on by the BCM it moves over to 87 that is connected to ground. Inturn uses the Right High beam 12V+ to complete the circuit and runs 1/2 power under a Series configuration. At this time the B10 at the BCM is not grounded and has 6V so it don't command the Cluster High beam light to turn on.

So my Theory is that I could Make a Bypass by Adding a Relay Between A8 of the BCM and OEM DRL relay. Over the New relay on a OUT to a Resistor T Tap on the B10 so it shows there is a 6V+

Here is what I know about the OEM DRL setup. You can't Remove the Relay you will get a CEL, You can not Defeat Pin 87 it will also Error and turn on normal Headlights, can't remove 87a as it will not work both High beams when system is working normal and get a Head light out message.

Any help would be great.

Here are some Pictures to better explain the Light System with DRL path in Red. There is 3 pages with one page showing without DRL on path outlined. So I am thinking that the Path for a bypass would be on page 2 where the BCM gets info about High Beam. It test that wire and if High Beam is out it can tell down that path. Plus when the Cars Switch is turned on it passes ground over the Multi switch, If clicked for high beams ground goes up to there and Logic out put to cluster to turn on high beam indicator.

I know that there has been a Bypass for my car. The person that built it don't sale it anymore and they didn't offer any info for people that want or need to make a bypass. I know when they built the Bypass they used a Relay, switch and built a BCM pass through on this connector. So it tells me without much thought really that there is something in common on this harness C1 and really for all that is loaded in C1 only thing that is input out put type of connections related to lights would be A8 and B10...

Guess I just make a Harness to go between and do my own testing. What is the worse that could happen lol. Hard to believe no one has any insight.

Thanks for the Looking anyway.

You have to understand that this is not really an automotive forum. Until recently discussion of automotive subjects was banned. You might get more action on another electronics forum.

I am curious why you would want to eliminate the DRL as it is a safety feature. I am not sure where you live but if you are in Canada, they are mandatory on all vehicles since 1989.
As for this forum, I don't believe you will get the answer you want because it is a safety feature and the forum does not support the modifications to such systems.

Sadly it is not a safe feature and when it comes down to making it so you can't upgrade your headlights to something better. I am in the USA. Back when Canada made it a law to have DRL GM tried to get it passed in USA to have DRL standard, That failed however in 95ish they started making the cars with it. IN Mid 2006 7 or 8 they tried again and was turned down by the NHTSA. Problem is and there are many but lack of being able to see Motor cycles from cars the brightness being over that of blinkers and just some issues as well with how bright they are. In fact some people are going and adding HID's to cars with old DRL that run on the High beams LIke mine run on the High Beam side. HOwever with LED and HID they don't want to work at 6volt over Series. So people set it up to make them full bright. Rather then just turning on the switch. Yes I know I can turn on my light switch and have just running lights without DRL. Wait if I turn off car and restart it now the running lights are bypassed and DRL is running anyway. So I have to turn off light switch, turn back on to running. However I don't want to have any lights on while I drive 300miles a day why so I can change out light bulbs more often? Right now driving 300 a day is my slow days. There are days that it can be as much as 4 or almost 600. When you put on that much miles burning bulbs for no reason and have to replaced a LL bulb because of what seems like iti s always on. I should have the Option. I know it can be done. It has. Just not offered by the person that built it anymore.

GM has a RPO that someone in the US can ask them to add to remove the DRL from the cars. Sadly not something many people know about. Just ones that do and don't want them ask to remove them...

Seeing I didn't want to give bad info on above, For this I just did a Search and for the WIKI I will provide the link once you are on the page scroll down to the USA and most info giving above was close to what they offered. Memory isn't 100% these days :)

Thank you for the Replies Again not changing something that is a safety measure or EVEN Required
