I need to select temperature sensor for harsh environment condition.
I have to put that sensor in snow layer repeatedly. & response time of sensor should be fastest.

I was looking at thermocouple respone time here:

Is there any equivalent sensor for such harsh condition with fast response like hermocouple

 

If the thermocouple response time is adequate, why not use a thermocouple?

 

thermocouple need cold junction compensation, which further include adding a new sensor

 

Ad585 is a thermocouple amplifier with internal cold junction compensation, you wouldn't need another sensor. You can power it with a 9v battery. I was able to make a great circuit with a sharpie and some etching. It's extremely simple

Otherwise you'll need a thermistor (glass bead 100k from Epcos has a pretty quick response) with some kind of interpretation circuitry.

You could build a fairly nice analog circuit with a thermistor that could control pretty much anything relative to the temperature with an opamp or something. Depends on what you intend to do with the temp info.

Or you could just buy an infrared temp gun

 

Are you measuring absolute temperature or temperature differences?

What type of readout do you need?
