Hello all...

I need help limiting a 15Vac to 250 mA max; for example
I have read here on the forum, but most of what it is discussed regards DC current limiters.

any help will be apreaicated.

 

What is the load? A resistor can limit AC or DC current.

as in a pressure transducer?

that should have a resistor already in it and you simply supply 'excitation' voltage. The resistance will limit the current on its own, as long as you don't give it a voltage too far out of its specified range. Should be listed on the side of the unit as 24 volt or 28 volt or 5 volt or 10 volt etc etc etc.

 

it is a linear variable displacement trasducer, it has internal resistors and a coil.
on one of the test "in the manual" it asks for a given voltage at a given max current allow.

 

A 15VAC supply and a 250mA fuse.

 

It sounds like you are dealing with an LVDT. You need to have some understanding of how it works ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_variable_differential_transformer ) and a thorough understanding of the data sheet.
