Hi,

I am looking for a switch that will activate when a light source in placed infront of it. I am guessing this is some sort of phototransistor. The light source would only be an LED. This is to make a lead that could sit on the front recording LED of a camcorder, then have an inline battery and an LED at the end. this is to give me a long lead so I am able to see the recording light whilst being a couple of meters from the camera.

Any help on this would be great.

You can use a photo transistor but make sure that it can detect the spectrum of the LED light.

Also, you can use an LDR to detect light or the absence of light.
