I am trying to build a timer using a 8 pin 555 chip that will stay on for 4 sec and off for 2 sec... i will also need both on and off to be adjustable so that both can be tweeked.... what im trying to do is open the transmit site of a ethernet connection "just the white orange wire only" and i want to use the 555 as a gateway in which the white orange wire will be run tru to cause data interuption when it turns on and off... It has been may years since my Navy Electronic days so i know i can put it together but I need help desiging it... any help would be GREATLY APPREACIATED...thanks again

sorry forgot to mention that it need to run on 3vdc with a on/off switch

If you are using 3 Volts for the power supply, you can use the CMOS version of the 555.
