~I bought a*laptop battery*the day before yesterday in www.rabattakkus.com There is usually a label on the battery. The label will have the part number,*chemicalconstruction (eg Li-Ion, NiMh), voltage and current printed on it. Please note the battery voltage is not the same as the*power supplies*voltage. If this information is not present the make and model of your laptop would help any sales person identify the correct battery.

Normally when someone works with battery replacement they have battery catalogs that show all batteries listed by size and specs, and the catalogs almost always have lookup tables showing which battery is used for which appliance.

Failing that you can sometimes work by measuring the size of the battery and checking number of cells and cell type and the connector type. Most laptops etc are made in Asia and they like to use the standard size batteries that they can cheap buy in bulk.
