Hey guys,

I'm just beginning a project to convert a '92 New Yorker dashboard into a performance monitor for my PC. The display is driven by 2 HD61100SJA drivers, and is controlled through a custom controller designed by Motorola. The display is backlit by 6 lamps which are not attached to the assembly of the screen. The screens appear to be common anode, and are probably 5V (tested with a 100ohm resistor).

I am looking at driving this all with an Arduino Uno, most likely with an auxiliary power supply if required. I'm wondering, from the vast knowledge base here, if it would be advisable to work with the onboard Hitachi drivers or to get something newer?

If I remain working with the onboard Hitachis, does anyone have experience with them? Thanks guys!
