Have you ever measured a 3.7V battery with a caliber to check if the dimensions are right? DON'T!

So, a very funny quick story that I have to tell: I was the other day thinking about a project, it needed a battery, but the dimensions for the 3.7V battery were tight. I googled the standard dimensions, with and without protection for overvoltage, etc... just to check mine with precision, I took my caliper and measured the battery, the long side. Well, the rest is history. I won't say what happened, think about it, laugh at me and put in the comments what do you think I did wrong.

Quite an easy trap to fall into if one was a bit preoccupied at the time.
A strip of tape across the base of the battery could help save smoke etc.
