H-Bridge Motor Driver IC

I'm designing a TEC driver based on an Application Note from TI for their UC3638 PWM motor controller.
Application Note: http://www.ti.com.cn/cn/lit/an/slua202a/slua202a.pdf
Datasheet: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/uc3638.pdf
The chip is designed to be used with a FET an H-bridge to drive a DC motor using PWM. It has a feedback/command signal input that is used to both control the PWM duty cycle, and the polarity of the H-bridge. There is internal circuitry that makes sure only one half the the H-bridge is on at any given moment. There is also two current sense inputs that shut down the PWM outputs in the event of over current.
The application note basically replaces the DC motor with a TEC and LC filter, and uses a thermistor circuit to supply the feedback voltage. It's a great and simple design, but the UC3638 is pretty expensive (8 bucks a pop) and it seems like no one keeps good stock of it (it might be an older chip, the datasheet looks ancient).

So I was wondering, does anyone know of a good PWM H-bridge controller IC that could be used to drive a TEC, like in the TI application note above?

Thanks
