Got my 6th patent approved this week. Watch out Thomas Edison -- I'm catching up!
How much does it cost to do a patent nowadays?
Do not strive to be like Edison. Strive to be like Tesla.
Generally more than I could afford if I didn't write them myself. I have an attorney who fills in the legalese and files the forms. When's all said and done, around $15,000.
This particular patent was a bear, though. All of my claims were initially rejected out of the box by the examiner. I had to write a 40 page defense of each of my 20 claims, against 6 pieces of cited prior art. Then the attorney had to repackage all of that into a proper response, in addition to supplementing it with pertinent case law. I think all told I'm in for $25K-$30K, including the $1,000 publishing fee that you have to pay once the claims are allowed.
I got all 20 claims allowed, though. Made my day!
Well...I hope you make a profit.
I already have...been building the product using the patented tech for three years. The world loves 'em.
what's the product like? what about us!?
Any hints on what you're making, or is it still top-secret?
Can't tell, Eric. Sorry. I'd lose my anonymity...
Anyway gudluck with it!
You beat Edison a long time ago, your fighting Edisons secretary and unpaid interns!
