Don't know the movie but it was directed by Commander William Riker... I'll check around for it. For those who don't know Johnathan Frankes (William Riker on Star Trek) has become quite the director / producer. Done tones of movies a couple of the middle star trek ones, NCIS, CSI, CSI Miami, Law and Order, etc... The list goes on and on. But those who were fans look up his imdb and see all the stuff he's done. Including the above.

Yes, they where stop-go animations.
The original series where shown on TV in 1965-1966 in the UK:

Later they where shown in Holland, where I know them of.
