And also, if I let those boxes represent impedances, I should be able to just use nodal analysis at the top/middle node to find V1?

 

Vo will equal V1.

How about my follow-up question about nodal analysis?

 

If R's are replaced with impedances you could use nodal analysis - or the method you've already outlined is equally valid. In either method the complex algebra is more challenging than for the case of simple resistive elements.
