hello,
I have a project to construct a function generator(with variable freq)(using op-amps)....hoping anyone of you could help me with a circuit.
thanks!

Instead of op amps, you can use an IC 8038 which is meant for constructing a function generator.
The ICL8038 is obsolete and has not been made for many years.
The MAX038 is also not made anymore.
The XR2206 fuction generator IC is nearly the same and might still be made.

The XR2206 is still being made.

Jameco stocks them:

The facility where the MAX038 was being made was destroyed around 2003 by a natural disaster (tsunami, I think). The process used was lost in the disaster. It really was a great IC. However, you could possibly use current feedback video amps to approximate it's performance.

I picked up some CLC411 (obsolete) video amps awhile back; 200MHz GBW is pretty impressive, along with 2300V/uS slew rate. Gain is 0.03dB flat up to 30MHz.

The LMH6720 is pretty fast too, and is active: http://www.national.com/pf/LM/LMH6720.html#Overview
