I am really getting into cooking and I am wondering what foods are commerically available. (basically I want to know what is possiblely out there )

The local grocery stores are not enough I have exhausted almost all of there products.

I am wondering where the top restaurants , and the tv shows like chopped , iron chef get there foods from.

Like is it common to get octupus , or aligator thru a food distributor....
There must be a food distributor that can tell me 99% of the foods that one can get for commerical uses.... maybe the top chefs have special distributors or first pick when it comes to exotic and abundant type of foods

But there should be some distributor info out there how did the top chefs figure out where to get there exotic food products

Thanks for any help maybe someone out there knows a top chef or is a top chef

Are you anywhere near Avon, Everett, or Needham? I love to shop in Restaurant Depot for parties and such. We have membership cards but I believe anyone can walk in off the street as long as they pay cash.

Don't expect anything to come in size "small." If it is"single serving" there may well be 1,000 in the crate.

Wholesalers. Catalogs are about 5000 pages each. Most will not sell to public so you will need to find someone with a food license to order for you.
Sysco
PMG
master purveyors

Then you have import stores that will carry specific Asian, Italian, Greek, etc... food.

Then you have your high end grocery stores like
Whole Foods
Wild Woods
etc.. etc.. their are tons.

And finally you have the bulk local places like
Resturant Depot
Cosco
Sams Club
