I need your help how to make my external hard drive to its original condition. All folders appearing as application (ex: Documents.exe, pesonal files.exe) where it should'nt be. I tried to rename it and remove the .exe but the folder is getting unrecognizable. Need your help, what kind of virus is this? Thanks

Apparently it's an ugly bug. Using "folders.exe virus" as a search term brings up over 6,000,000 hits. This link says it will remove the infection -

If the drive is corrupted, you may have no choice but to format the drive and reinstall the system. That is easy if you have your factory restore disks, but bad if you don't have your data backed up. You can't back anything up now, as the virus will infect the media.

    Good luck.

A very powerful tool is combofix. You can download it here However READ THE INSTRUCTION FIRST, and then read them once more. If you do not do this it can make a mess for you. Also after you have downloaded the combofix.exe. Rename to something else like cfix.exe. Some virus protect them self by blocking the running of well known antivirus program names
