What are bessel functions

Bessel Functions are the solutions to a particular differential equation. They are non-elementary functions which can be approximated with and infinite series.

The other name for them is cylinder functions (Zylinderfunktionen), because they are the solutions to Laplace's equation in cylindrical coordinates.
