I made a fish tank light with two modes. The first being three blue LEDS that light up the tank and their intensity is controlled by a potentiometer. The second mode is a flashing sequence. I took three blue LEDS and fed them a triangle wave to look like they pulse in and out. I used Bill Marsden's example to get the LEDs to pulse so thank you Bill. While the three blue LEDS are off a white moon light LED comes on. I just used an op amp to get a 180 degree phase change for the white LED.
