Few Questions About ECL

Hello everyone,

I have few questions about ECL design. First a simple question about the families. I have not managed to find general information about 10E, 10EL, 10ELT families. What is the difference between these families and older 10k, 100k etc. families? I am familiar with those old families.

And the second question. The best way to do ECL to NIM translation. Yes, I am working with antiques :) ECL and NIM have roughly same logic swing so maybe there is some really simple and easy way to do this? Is it possible to do just some 0.9V level shift using inverted ECL output?

Thanks.

My word, I thought all those old NIM Bins were history.

There is a standard for NIM logic, but it is applicable to discrete transistor circuits. I didn't run it down, but the article - http://www-esd.fnal.gov/esd/catalog/intro/intronim.htm - suggests further level translation for ECL to NIM.

I think you'll have to get data sheets for ECL later than 100K to make guesses about compatibility.
